The Idea for this series was from a creative retreat that I attended for a week in Black Mountain, NC at the School of Alternatives. I wanted to capture the souls of all of the creatives that I encountered while being there. , I love photography because I can capture souls without any words. I decided on this series black and white which is unusual for my other works because I predominately work in color. To make this project black and white is capturing their authenticity as a whole. In all of these photos in this series, you can truly feel their personality shine through the photos.

For each of the portraits, it was simply just a quick snapshot. All that I asked them was “Can I take a quick portrait of you.” and they all showed different meanings of what that means.
